I am a current PhD student in the Smith Lab at the University of California, Davis. Broadly, my research there focused on how human disturbance alters mammalian community behavior, and what we can do to lessen those impacts. My PhD work focuses specifically on reintroducing large carnivores in human-dominated landscapes, and the subsequent community responses to those reintroductions.
I received my MSc at the Applied Conservation lab in the University of Victoria. There, I studied keystone species, and the extent to which human disturbance inhibited them from fulfilling their functional role.
Along with my research, I have a strong commitment to science communication, outreach, and inclusion work in STEM. I believe in fostering diverse perspectives in ecology, and I take an active stance on integrating diversity, equity and inclusion in my work.
